I joined the firm after 9 years working for a smaller firm, working closely with the clients and dealing with all aspects of their accounting needs. Whilst there I gained my AAT qualification and then continued to study towards ACA, qualifying in 2017. In my spare time I like to catch up with friends and enjoy going on holiday.
I joined Edmund Carr as a junior in the accounts and audit department in September 2004, following completion of A Levels.
I am now an assistant manager and am involved in all areas of accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and companies, and have responsibility for external & internal audits, corporation tax and personal tax.

I joined Edmund Carr in June 2015 a year after graduating with a 2:1 in Accounting and Finance. I am currently on a 4 year training course to gain my ACCA qualifications. Edmund Carr gives me the opportunity to further my skills from my degree through completing the accounts and audits, giving me exposure of a variety of clients from different size and sectors.

I joined Edmund Carr in 2009 following the completion of A-Levels. I have since completed AAT and am now a member of ACCA, having qualified in 2015. I work in the audit and accounts department and am heavily involved with our bookkeeping clients.

I have worked for Edmund Carr for over twelve years having started as a trainee in 2001 and am now a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and a Chartered Tax Advisor. I am the manager of the GP specialist team and also manage a variety of our small business clients.
I joined the tax team in 2015 after 20 years working for NatWest’s Personal Tax Service; the job that I secured after graduating from the University of Edinburgh.
Outside of work I play and coach cricket , play hockey and enjoy reading when I have some spare time.
I joined the firm in June 2015 after 28 years with the NatWest Personal tax Service in Chelmsford. Whilst at NatWest I provided tax compliance and advice to a varied portfolio of clients and obtained the ATT qualification. My role with Edmund Carr is as a Tax Senior again focusing on personal taxation. I am also gaining experience of other disciplines which is providing a helpful insight into the business.
I am currently an audit manager with a varied client portfolio. I specialise in company audits and pension scheme audits. I also work with non-audit limited companies, preparing accounts and dealing with corporation tax affairs. My portfolio of clients also includes sole traders and partnerships and I work in preparing their accounts and assisting with their personal tax returns I have been with the Practice for over eleven years and have a great working relationship with many of the firm’s clients.
I joined the team in September 2016 after completing my GCSE’s at the Anglo European School.
I am currently an apprentice studying for my AAT Level 2 moving on to Level 3.
My hobbies include Air Cadets and Sports.
I joined Edmund Carr in April 2016, and have since passed my Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business. I am now continuing my studying to achieve my ACA qualification.
I am in the accounts and audit department where I prepare accounts for a variety of companies. I believe that working whilst studying provides me with a better understanding of the course material.
I joined Edmund Carr in October 1990 after starting my career at HMRC. I work in the tax department, where I have my own allocation of personal tax clients and my work mainly involves the completion of self-assessment tax returns and repayment claims. Having been with the firm for so long I know some of our clients’ very well and enjoy in particular supporting our more elderly clients.
I also assist with the preparation of papers for probate purposes and help out in the payroll department during busy times.
I joined Edmund Carr in August 18 having previously worked in the payroll industry for the last 18 years. I have specialised in client payrolls for the last 11 years and enjoy the variety that this work entails. When I’m not working I enjoy going on holidays and watching football with my family as a Spurs Season Ticket holder.
Clare van Belkum
I joined ECFS in June 2017 as a trainee IFA and am currently studying towards the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
I have a wealth of experience working with clients in both retail and business banking having spent 25 years with NatWest. I welcome the opportunity to use the experience gained from relationship banking to assist clients with realising their financial ambitions.
I joined ECFS in May 2018 as an administrator and have worked in financial services since 2015. Prior to joining the firm I worked in fund administration which has really helped me in my current role. I am responsible for meeting and greeting clients and supporting the adviser team with any associated administrative duties. I really enjoy what I do and class myself as a people person who likes nothing more than seeing a client walk out the door with a smile on their face.
Outside of work I have an interest in anything about cars.
Before joining Edmund Carr in December 2012, I managed a general practice dealing with a wide range of clients. I have worked in an audit environment for many years and have acquired strong technical skills which I have been able to use effectively throughout my career to date. Whilst I enjoy numerical work, it is much more satisfying to build strong relationships with clients and be part of a successful team at Edmund Carr who can support clients with all their business needs.
My philosophy is that every client deserves my full attention, whatever the size of their business. My goal is always to help clients to be able to spend more of their time running their business, instead of their business running them.
I am a member of the Personal Finance Society and an authorised adviser at ECFS.
I have gained many years’ experience in the industry including twenty seven years with NatWest Bank: sixteen years in investment/wills/executor, and a further eleven years as Senior Financial Planning Manager. My independent advice service is widely used by professionals and individuals’, including Edmund Carr’s referred clients.
I have been a Partner with Edmund Carr since 1982. The years of experience and understanding of clients’ requirements leads to better decision making and provides valuable support as they develop their businesses. There is tremendous satisfaction from seeing clients prosper and it is very rewarding to know that they appreciate the contribution I have made to their success.
I have a wide ranging client portfolio including large family owned businesses, independent schools, partnerships and sole proprietors. This, together with an involvement in tax and trustee work leads to a varied and enjoyable workload.
We are a long established independent practice with a hard working culture that is evident throughout the firm. We have grown significantly over the last few years but are still able to maintain a close working relationship with our clients.
My expertise revolves around tax compliance work as well as more difficult tax planning issues for both personal and business clients. I am one of the firm’s two tax partners, and m portfolio consists primarily of individual tax cases and small businesses. Although I work in many different industry sectors, my specialist areas include doctor and dental practices.
I enjoy getting to know my clients so that I can offer them the best advice specific to their individual needs. For me, there’s nothing more satisfying than knowing I’ve given a client the best possible service and seeing their appreciation. We are different at Edmund Carr. Although our clientele is extremely varied we are very pro-active. We approach every assignment in the same professional manner to ensure that all clients receive the attention necessary to achieve business success.
I have worked for Edmund Carr for over ten years, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant prior to having children. As Practice Manager I am responsible for preparing the firm’s own management and statutory accounts together with playing a key role alongside our staff partner in student recruitment and training.

I joined the Practice in 2007 with an Accountancy and Mathematics Degree and previous knowledge of the firm from a work experience opportunity. I qualified as a certified accountant through ACCA in 2011. Since then I have been building up my knowledge within the medical sector, but I also manage the accounts for clients in a number of sectors including the farming industry and audit work, partly within the fast food franchise sector. My day to day role also includes personal tax returns and corporation tax returns.
I have a keen interest in assisting our clients with the latest software developments and have completed the Xero certification. My aim is to improve the efficiency of the bookkeeping process and also to encourage the use of software which can provide real-time information which will assist with cashflow and other business management decisions.
In my free time I am a regular Parkrun jogger and volunteer, an avid reader and also enjoy crafts and making gifts for friends and family.
IT Support Assistant
I joined the Administration team in 2007 and have responsibility for managing the electronic filing and archive database. I also assist with computer and technical difficulties which arise in the office. Out of the office I enjoy golf and walking in the country. I am married and have two dogs.
If my years as a general practice and audit partner have taught me one thing about my clients, it is that they generally need far more than just financial advice.
I enjoy my career in the profession because of the variety of work, the people I meet, and the issues that arise on a daily basis. My client portfolio consists primarily of family businesses, but I have particular expertise in the charitable sector, along with schools and trade associations.
I like to be closely involved with my clients. My role is to listen, offer advice and assistance, and, wherever possible, imaginative solutions that will help them to develop their businesses. Above all, I like to think that they will always contact me first when something crops up.
Variety is what makes the profession really enjoyable. You never know what will come up during the course of a day. We take a close interest in what our clients are doing, and care about them.
I joined ECFS in October 2017 as a trainee IFA, having worked in Fund administration for over 13 years. I am currently studying towards the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
I am keen to help people manage their finances and use my knowledge and skills to build relationships and understand individual clients’ needs. Outside of work, most of my time is spent looking after and riding my horse.
I became Edmund Carr's first specialist tax partner in 1991 and have taken the lead role in numerous estate planning assignments undertaken for individuals, and dealt with a variety of complex tax issues affecting business clients, with a particular emphasis on the agricultural and medical sectors.
I have seen significant growth in the practice since 1991, to the extent that my fellow partner Debbie Wakefield now also specialises in tax, such is the size of the tax workload.
Having previously worked in an accountancy practice for seven years, I joined the Practice in 2004 as part of the secretarial/reception /administration team and took on the role as supervisor within the department in 2013.
I recently joined the payroll team at Edmund Carr, having worked in the profession for over 20 years. My experience is predominantly within a banking environment, however since 2013 I have been working on the processing of Client payrolls and enjoy the variety of work and new challenges.
I joined EC Financial Services recently as the Office Co-Ordinator. I come from a banking/secretarial/administrative background having worked for RBS/Coutts for eleven years and Lloyds for fourteen years, where I supported senior management and enjoyed helping and getting to know clients.

I joined Edmund Carr in 2006 and am the Manager of our Charities sector. Having completed my degree I trained with a large accountancy firm in London, specialising in audit and insurance. Following qualification in 1992 I worked for the Corporation of Lloyd’s as a team leader in the regulatory division before taking a career break to have children. I manage a wide range of charity clients requiring accounts preparation, independent examination and audit services as well as advice on issues affecting charities.
I joined the practice in July 2014 after finishing my A-levels and began as a trainee accountant. I have now completed AAT level 3 and 4 and have moved onto a 4 year training course to gain my ACCA qualification.
Working in the accounts and audit department alongside learning has made my understanding of the course considerably easier as there is always someone in the office to help me.
I have worked for the Practice since June 2011 and in a payroll environment for over twenty years. I manage the payroll team who process approximately 300 payrolls. I particularly enjoy the client contact I have on a day to day basis and the fact that no two days are ever the same.
I joined the Practice in August 2007, after completing A Levels and have worked my way through the Edmund Carr study programme and qualified in 2013. My current role is Assistant Manager. My portfolio of clients is extremely varied and my work load consists mainly of auditing, preparation of accounts for non-audit limited companies, sole traders and partnerships, dealing with limited company tax and personal taxation. I specialise in FCA Audits.
I joined Edmund Carr in 2006. My role in the company is secretary/receptionist where my duties include typing and welcoming clients. My hobbies outside of work are gardening, reading and going to the theatre.
I have been working in payroll for 20 years now and for the past 10 years working with client payrolls. I joined Edmund Carr in November 2017 as Payroll Administrator and really enjoy the variety of work and also working as part of a team. When I am not busy being mum to my two young children, I enjoy going to the gym, swimming and socialising with family and friends.
I have a very broad range of financial planning experience having worked as a mortgage adviser, financial planner, and wealth manager. As well as my experience as an IFA, I have had a long and distinguished banking career with the Chelmsford offices of NatWest Private Banking and Coutts & Co.
I can advise on all areas of finance and also have professional connections to many people in the local business community having worked in the Essex area for over 15 years.
I am a Chartered Financial Planner. My chartered status demonstrates an ongoing commitment to learning together with the highest ethical and business standards.

Before joining the Practice as a Secretary in 2008, I worked in London for a large insurance broker in a senior secretarial role. I joined Edmund Carr as a secretary in 2001 and after a short break to have my second daughter, returned part time in 2011 to take on the role of Marketing Secretary. Outside of the office my time is spent with family and friends. I also love exercising, DIY and gardening and I am currently enjoying the experience of being a student at Writtle University College studying for an RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture.

I have two children aged 13 and 8. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, outings to the theatre, cinema and going to the gym.

I am currently on a two year contract, studying for The Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business. After this I hope to gain a study contract for ACCA.

I joined Edmund Carr in the autumn of 1998, as an accounts trainee, straight from A-levels. Having passed the Accounting Technician exams I was transferred to the tax department in 2000, and qualified as a Taxation Technician and Chartered Tax Adviser. My role is centred around personal taxation, but I am also involved with most other areas of tax.
Outside of work my main interests are music, playing guitar, karate, photography, countryside walking, and I have been a keen birder since primary school.

I started work with Edmund Carr in October 2005 and am the Company Secretarial Administrator. My daily role includes company formation and statutory filing at Companies House. I also assist with various other administration duties within the Practice. I have two daughters, enjoy holidays, fine food and drink which makes France a favourite destination.

I joined Edmund Carr in August 2017 after completing my A levels in Business, Geography and Media at The Boswells School.
I am currently on a two year contract working towards the completion of AAT, after which I aim to earn a study contract for ACCA.
I work in the Audit and Accounts department where I prepare accounts for a variety of clients, gaining experience of work in the firm while also learning at college.
I joined Edmund Carr in November 2016 having completed my A Levels at St John Payne School. I am currently studying towards my AAT. I hope once I have completed this I will continue to study for my ACCA.

As a Full & Fellow Member of the Association of Accountants Technicians for 10 years and Pitmans/AAT Bookkeeping Qualified, I have worked in various roles in practice since 2005 including; taxation, company accounts, payroll/CIS, finance manager support.
Having become a Xero certified advisor in 2013, I became a great advocate for cloud accountancy and have moved on to become a certified Xero migration advisor and a Quick Books online certified advisor. I enjoy helping clients navigate the new technology and use it to speed up their processes to allow them more time to concentrate on their business.
In my spare time I am working towards a masters degree at in Voluntary Sector financial management Cass Business School, and I also volunteer bi-monthly at the local Cats Protection branch where I assist in looking after the cats in their care.

I have seen many changes in the firm and experienced much diversity in my role as the practice has grown from 15 personnel when I started to nearly 50 today.

I have been very fortunate to have looked after some wonderful clients in NatWest and at Coutts & Co over a long and distinguished 35 year career in financial services.
Having recently joined EC Financial Services as a Senior Independent Financial Adviser, the importance of providing face to face advice to clients has never been so important, and I look forward to bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the advice team in supporting the needs and aspirations of our clients.
I am married to Nicola, a Primary School Teacher, have 4 wonderful grown up children and at the last count 2 Grandsons!
I have a passion for live music, film & theatre and a keen interest in family genealogy.
My roots are firmly set in Chelmsford's business community and my significant portfolio includes many long-standing clients. As a Registered Auditor, I act on behalf of numerous businesses, including those within niche sectors such as agriculture and construction. I also have roles with family business helping with strategic planning.
I have known and worked with many of my clients for years now. It’s not just about tax and accounts; in a provincial practice such as ours, you are a financial doctor, helping your clients in so many unexpected ways. I have seen the practice develop significantly over the last few decades or so, and this is reflected in the differing types of high quality services we now provide. I am in the audits and accounts department where I prepare accounts for a variety of clients. Working whilst studying has allowed me to gain a wider knowledge and develop my understanding of the course.
My hobbies include badminton and dance.

I joined Edmund Carr in March 2016 after gaining management experience in the retail sector and accounting experience in a small limited company. I am currently studying AAT level 3 with the aim of completing AAT level 4 and earning a study contract for ACCA.

I joined Edmund Carr in August 2017 after the completion of my A levels in History, Maths and Chemistry from Great Baddow High School. I have just begun a two year apprenticeship studying towards a Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business.
I work in the Audit and Accounts department where I enjoy completing accounts for a number of different clients. I feel my apprenticeship gives me the best of both worlds by offering me on the job experience as well as the knowledge to back up my work.

I joined Edmund Carr in August 2013 after graduating with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Business Economics from the University of Exeter. I am now a member of ICAEW, having completed the ACA qualification in 2016.
Edmund Carr has given me exposure to a variety of client types, from those that require bookkeeping services, to sole traders and small companies that need assistance with accounts preparation. I am also involved in audits of medium-sized companies, Academies, Solicitors and Pension Schemes.
I am a member of the Personal Finance Society and have over 20 years experience in both private and retail banking, providing financial advice in Essex and London. I aim to utilise our independent adviser status to provide the best possible advice to our clients in all aspects of financial planning.
Having enjoyed many years as a Registered Audit partner, I have also become the firm’s IT specialist and assist a broad range of clients in developing their technical infrastructure through the installation of computerised accounting systems and the production of management accounts. This compliments my particular expertise of working with large company clients, company pension schemes, FCA audits, academies and fast food restaurants.
Every day is different. I really enjoy the new challenges of dealing with my clients’ unique issues. It’s great to see them grow and to really get to know their business needs so that I can help them every step of the way. We are a very capable firm and our blend of different talents contributes to the collective wealth of experience and expertise that we offer.
I’ve been in practice for 5 years before joining Edmund Carr and previously worked in industry predominately in the media sector. I have experience with a wide range of clients but have most experience within the leisure and entertainment sector. I have achieved AAT level 3 accounting.

The majority of the accounts I work on are for Charities and Trusts, which are often audits or independent examinations. My qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and I am a member of ACCA, having qualified in 2015.
Having worked for the Practice since 2002, I have recently been made a Partner. My portfolio of clients is extremely varied which means day to day work is never the same. My day consists mainly of auditing, preparation of accounts for non-audit limited companies, sole traders and partnerships, dealing with limited company tax and personal taxation. As the newest Partner I also tend to meet with new clients coming to the firm. My specialisations are Academies and Business Start Ups.
I joined the Practice in 2012 and have front of house desk responsibilities which include typing, reception and various administration duties. My previous working background is in banking in the City. I have a keen interest in travel after spending time travelling the World prior to having a family.
