I have worked in practice since 2009, completing my AAT and ACA qualifications at a smaller firm before joining Edmund Carr in 2018. I work in the audit team, completing accounts, audit and tax work for a variety of clients, both in terms of size and industry. This is not only interesting, but also helps to keep my knowledge and skills up to date in different areas.
I joined Edmund Carr as a junior in the accounts and audit department in September 2004, following completion of A Levels.
I am now an assistant manager and am involved in all areas of accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and companies, and have responsibility for external & internal audits, corporation tax and personal tax.

I joined Edmund Carr in 2009 following the completion of A-Levels. I have since completed AAT and am now a member of ACCA, having qualified in 2015. I work in the audit and accounts department and am heavily involved with our bookkeeping clients.

I started my accountancy career when I joined Edmund Carr in 2001 following studying marketing at university. I qualified as a chartered certified accountant with ACCA in 2006 and later followed the pathways route to become a member of ICAEW, I also became a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2011. I have been lucky during my time at Edmund Carr to have worked with a wide range of clients and I enjoy the variety that working within practice brings. I see my role as providing a support to my clients in running their business, it is more than just preparing the financial figures. I am now the newest of the firms three tax partners and specialise in accounts for medical professionals, small businesses and complex tax advice.

I joined the tax team in 2015 after 20 years working for NatWest’s Personal Tax Service; the job that I secured after graduating from the University of Edinburgh.
Outside of work I play and coach cricket , play hockey and enjoy reading when I have some spare time.
I joined the firm in June 2015 after 28 years with the NatWest Personal tax Service in Chelmsford. Whilst at NatWest I provided tax compliance and advice to a varied portfolio of clients and obtained the ATT qualification. My role with Edmund Carr is as a Tax Senior again focusing on personal taxation. I am also gaining experience of other disciplines which is providing a helpful insight into the business.
I joined Edmund Carr in June 2019 as a trainee accountant after completing my A levels in Business, Religious studies and Drama at New Hall School. I am currently studying towards the Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business on a two-year apprenticeship. Outside of work I enjoy playing Rugby and going to the Gym.
I am currently an audit manager with a varied client portfolio. I specialise in company audits and pension scheme audits. I also work with non-audit limited companies, preparing accounts and dealing with corporation tax affairs. My portfolio of clients also includes sole traders and partnerships and I work in preparing their accounts and assisting with their personal tax returns I have been with the Practice for over eleven years and have a great working relationship with many of the firm’s clients.
I joined Edmund Carr in April 2016, and have since passed my Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business. I am now continuing my studying to achieve my ACA qualification.
I am in the accounts and audit department where I prepare accounts for a variety of companies. I believe that working whilst studying provides me with a better understanding of the course material.
I joined Edmund Carr in October 1990 after starting my career at HMRC. I work in the tax department, where I have my own allocation of personal tax clients and my work mainly involves the completion of self-assessment tax returns and repayment claims. Having been with the firm for so long I know some of our clients’ very well and enjoy in particular supporting our more elderly clients.
I also assist with the preparation of papers for probate purposes.
Payroll Assistant Manager
I joined Edmund Carr in August 18 having previously worked in the payroll industry for the last 18 years. I have specialised in client payrolls for the last 11 years and enjoy the variety that this work entails. When I’m not working I enjoy going on holidays and watching football with my family as a Spurs Season Ticket holder.
Clare van Belkum
I joined ECFS in June 2017 and hold CISI’s Level 4 Diploma in Investment Advice (Financial Planning & Advice). I have a wealth of financial services experience working with clients in both retail and business banking, having spent 25 years with NatWest and welcome the opportunity to use the experience gained from relationship banking to assist clients with realising their ambitions through financial planning.
Before joining Edmund Carr in December 2012, I managed a general practice dealing with a wide range of clients. I have worked in an audit environment for many years and have acquired strong technical skills which I have been able to use effectively throughout my career to date. Whilst I enjoy numerical work, it is much more satisfying to build strong relationships with clients and be part of a successful team at Edmund Carr who can support clients with all their business needs.
My philosophy is that every client deserves my full attention, whatever the size of their business. My goal is always to help clients to be able to spend more of their time running their business, instead of their business running them.
I joined Edmund Carr in July 2019 after graduating with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) History at the University of Westminster. I am currently studying towards the ACCA qualification on a four year training contract.
Outside of work my interests include football, going to the gym, and travelling.
I have been a Partner with Edmund Carr since 1982. The years of experience and understanding of clients’ requirements leads to better decision making and provides valuable support as they develop their businesses. There is tremendous satisfaction from seeing clients prosper and it is very rewarding to know that they appreciate the contribution I have made to their success.
I have a wide ranging client portfolio including large family owned businesses, independent schools, partnerships and sole proprietors. This, together with an involvement in tax and trustee work leads to a varied and enjoyable workload.
We are a long established independent practice with a hard working culture that is evident throughout the firm. We have grown significantly over the last few years but are still able to maintain a close working relationship with our clients.
I have worked for Edmund Carr for over ten years, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant prior to having children. As Practice Manager I am responsible for preparing the firm’s own management and statutory accounts together with playing a key role alongside our staff partner in student recruitment and training.
My expertise revolves around tax compliance work as well as more difficult tax planning issues for both personal and business clients. I also specialise in the medical sector acting for numerous doctors, dentists and consultants. I am one of the firm’s tax partners, and my portfolio consists primarily of individual tax cases, small businesses and medical partnerships.
I enjoy getting to know my clients so that I can offer them the best advice specific to their individual needs. For me, there’s nothing more satisfying than knowing I’ve given a client the best possible service and seeing their appreciation. At Edmund Carr we approach every assignment in the same professional manner to ensure that all clients receive the attention necessary to achieve business success.
IT Support Assistant
I joined the Administration team in 2007 and have responsibility for managing the electronic filing and archive database. I also assist with computer and technical difficulties which arise in the office. Out of the office I enjoy golf, netball and walking.
Secretary / Administrator
I joined Edmund Carr in November 2019 as a Secretarial Administrator, after spending 8 years in similar administrator/client focused roles. My interests outside of the office include, dining out, spending time with family and staying healthy by visiting the gym.
If my years as a general practice and audit partner have taught me one thing about my clients, it is that they generally need far more than just financial advice.
I enjoy my career in the profession because of the variety of work, the people I meet, and the issues that arise on a daily basis. My client portfolio now consists of primarily family businesses.
I like to be closely involved with my clients. My role is to listen, offer advice and assistance and, wherever possible, imaginative solutions that will help them to develop their businesses. Above all, I like to think that they will always contact me first when something crops up.
Variety is what makes the profession really enjoyable. You never know what will come up during the course of a day. As a firm our ethos is to take a close interest in what our clients are doing, and care about them.
I joined ECFS in October 2017 , having worked in Investment Fund Administration for over 13 years. I passed the CISI Level 4 Diploma in Investment Advice (Financial Planning & Advice).
I advise on all aspects of financial planning offered by ECFS, but am particularly interested in ethical and sustainable investment offerings and I am keen to help people manage their finances and use my knowledge and skills to build relationships and understand individual clients’ needs.
Outside of work I enjoy riding my horse and spend a lot of time on the farm. I don’t have time for many other hobbies, but do enjoy pilates and aerial fitness”. I am also registered as a “Dementia Friend”.
I became Edmund Carr's first specialist tax partner in 1991 and have taken the lead role in numerous estate planning assignments undertaken for individuals, and dealt with a variety of complex tax issues affecting business clients, with a particular emphasis on the agricultural and medical sectors.
I have seen significant growth in the practice since 1991, to the extent that my colleagues Debbie Wakefield and Alison McDowall now also specialise in tax, such is the size of the tax workload.
I recently joined the payroll team at Edmund Carr, having worked in the profession for over 20 years. My experience is predominantly within a banking environment, however since 2013 I have been working on the processing of Client payrolls and enjoy the variety of work and new challenges.
I joined EC Financial Services recently as the Office Co-Ordinator. I come from a banking/secretarial/administrative background having worked for RBS/Coutts for eleven years and Lloyds for fourteen years, where I supported senior management and enjoyed helping and getting to know clients.
I joined Edmund Carr in March 2020 having recently graduated with First Class honours in Accounting and Management from the University of East Anglia. I am currently studying towards my final 6 exams of the ACCA qualification on a four year training contract. In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, playing rugby, and keeping up to date with football.

I joined Edmund Carr in 2006 and am the Manager of our Charities sector. Having completed my degree I trained with a large accountancy firm in London, specialising in audit and insurance. Following qualification in 1992 I worked for the Corporation of Lloyd’s as a team leader in the regulatory division before taking a career break to have children. I manage a wide range of charity clients requiring accounts preparation, independent examination and audit services as well as advice on issues affecting charities.
Assistant Audit and Accounts Manager
I joined Edmund Carr in the audit and accounts department straight from finishing A-Levels in 2015. Since then I have become AAT and ACCA qualified.
I am now an assistant manager and work with a variety of clients of different sizes. This exposes me to a range of requirements, from clients who need bookkeeping services and others that need their accounts audited. This has enabled me to keep my knowledge and experience up to date in an array of areas.
I have worked for the Practice since June 2011 and in a payroll environment for over twenty years. I manage the payroll team who process approximately 300 payrolls. I particularly enjoy the client contact I have on a day to day basis and the fact that no two days are ever the same.
I joined the Practice in August 2007, after completing A Levels and have worked my way through the Edmund Carr study programme and qualified in 2013. My current role is Assistant Manager. My portfolio of clients is extremely varied and my work load consists mainly of auditing, preparation of accounts for non-audit limited companies, sole traders and partnerships, dealing with limited company tax and personal taxation. I specialise in FCA Audits.
I have been working in payroll for 20 years now and for the past 10 years working with client payrolls. I joined Edmund Carr in November 2017 as Payroll Administrator and really enjoy the variety of work and also working as part of a team. When I am not busy being mum to my two young children, I enjoy going to the gym, swimming and socialising with family and friends.
Before joining the Practice as a Secretary in 2008, I worked in London for a large insurance broker in a senior secretarial role. I joined Edmund Carr as a secretary in 2001 and after a short break to have my second daughter, returned part time in 2011 to take on the role of Marketing Secretary. Outside of the office my time is spent with family and friends. I also love exercising, DIY and gardening and I am currently enjoying the experience of being a student at Writtle University College studying for an RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture.
I joined Edmund Carr in October 2020 after working for 6 years in a smaller practise and completing my AAT and most of my ACA. I am now in the process of sitting my final 2 exams before qualifying.

Having worked in practice since 2013, I have experience in a wide range of business sectors and cloud accounting. I have so far achieved my AATQB qualification, together with both Xero and Quickbooks certifications and am now looking to further my study onto ACCA.

I joined Edmund Carr in July 2019 as a trainee accountant after completing my A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Financial Studies from The Billericay School. I am studying towards my CFAB qualification on a 2 year apprenticeship which will allow me to study for my ACA qualification.

I have two children aged 13 and 8. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, outings to the theatre, cinema and going to the gym.

Assistant Tax Manager
I joined Edmund Carr in the autumn of 1998, as an accounts trainee, straight from A-levels. Having passed the Accounting Technician exams I was transferred to the tax department in 2000, and qualified as a Taxation Technician and Chartered Tax Adviser. My role is centred around personal taxation, but I am also involved with most other areas of tax.
Outside of work my main interests are music, playing guitar, karate, photography, countryside walking, and I have been a keen birder since primary school.

Company Secretarial Administrator
I started work with Edmund Carr in October 2005 and am the Company Secretarial Administrator. My daily role includes company formation and statutory filing at Companies House. I also assist with various other administration duties within the Practice. I have two daughters, enjoy holidays, fine food and drink which makes France a favourite destination.
I joined Edmund Carr in November 2016, having completed my A Levels at St John Payne School. Since then I have passed my level 3 and 4 AAT. I am now continuing my studying to achieve my ACA qualification.
I work in the accounts and audit department where I prepare accounts and audit a variety of companies and charities.
I joined ECFS in September 2019 and I’m enjoying being part of such a friendly, professional team. I’ve had a very varied customer focused career so far which has been based in hospitality, sales and admin, as well as having been self-employed, running my own businesses from home.
To improve my financial services knowledge, I am currently studying for by second Life and Pensions qualification.
Away from work, I love travelling in our motorhome with my husband and guinea pigs, walking, cycling, motor sport and rock music.

I joined Edmund Carr in 1977 and after a break to concentrate on family, returned to continue my role in office administration.
I have seen many changes in the firm and experienced much diversity in my role as the practice has grown from 15 personnel when I started to nearly 50 today.
Outside work I enjoy keep fit, walking and gardening.

I have been very fortunate to have looked after some wonderful clients in NatWest and at Coutts & Co over a long and distinguished 35 year career in financial services.
Having joined E C Financial Services as a Senior Independent Financial Adviser, the importance of providing face to face advice to clients has never been so important, and I look forward to bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the advice team in supporting the needs and aspirations of our clients.
I am married to Nicola, a primary school teacher, have 4 wonderful grown up children and, at the last count, two grandsons!
I have a passion for live music, film and theatre and a keen interest in family genealogy.
My roots are firmly set in Chelmsford's business community and my significant portfolio includes many long-standing clients. As a Registered Auditor, I act on behalf of numerous businesses, including those within niche sectors such as agriculture and construction. I also have roles with family business helping with strategic planning.
I have known and worked with many of my clients for years now. It’s not just about tax and accounts; in a provincial practice such as ours, you are a financial doctor, helping your clients in so many unexpected ways. I have seen the practice develop significantly over the last few decades or so, and this is reflected in the differing types of high quality services we now provide. Irrespective of our growth we still offer a very personalised client care service, which has been embedded in our culture since we began in 1953.

I joined Edmund Carr in June 2019 having previously gained 10 years experience working in various accountancy firms. I work in the audit and accounts department where I enjoy preparing accounts for a wide variety of different clients. I gained my AAT qualification in September 2012 and I’m currently studying towards the final exam of my ACCA qualification. Outside of work I enjoy playing hockey, socialising with friends and going on holiday.
I joined Edmund Carr in 2008 after completing A levels at Great Baddow High School. I qualified as a certified accountant through the ACCA in February 2014 and became a partner of the firm in April 2019. I deal with avery varied portfolio of clients, but my specialist areas are Academy schools and business start-ups. As a new partner to the firm, I tend to handle a lot of the new enquiries we receive, and I am looking forward to building a strong working relationship with my clients in the future! I enjoy socialising with friends, cycling, going to the gym and I am also involved with the scouting movement in Ingatestone.
I joined Edmund Carr in August 2017 after the completion of my A levels in History, Maths and Chemistry from Great Baddow High School. After completing my Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business in November 2018, I have started a four year apprenticeship to complete my ACA qualification.

I joined Edmund Carr in August 2013 after graduating with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Business Economics from the University of Exeter. I am now a member of ICAEW, having completed the ACA qualification in 2016.
Edmund Carr has given me exposure to a variety of client types, from those that require bookkeeping services, to sole traders and small companies that need assistance with accounts preparation. I am also involved in audits of medium-sized companies, Academies, Solicitors and Pension Schemes.

I am a member of the Personal Finance Society and have over 20 years’ experience in both private and retail banking, providing financial advice in Essex and London. I welcome the opportunity to utilise our independent adviser status to provide the best possible advice to our clients in all aspects of financial planning.
Having enjoyed many years as a Registered Audit partner, I have also become the firm’s IT specialist and assist a broad range of clients in developing their technical infrastructure through the installation of computerised accounting systems and the production of management accounts. This compliments my particular expertise of working with large company clients, company pension schemes, FCA audits, academies and fast food restaurants.
Every day is different. I really enjoy the new challenges of dealing with my clients’ unique issues. It’s great to see them grow and to really get to know their business needs so that I can help them every step of the way. We are a very capable firm and our blend of different talents contributes to the collective wealth of experience and expertise that we offer.

I joined the firm in August 2011 and since then have provided services for a variety of clients. The majority of the accounts I work on are for Charities and Trusts, which are often audits or independent examinations. My qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and I am a member of ACCA, having qualified in 2015.
Having worked for the Practice since 2002 I became a partner in early 2016. I hold a practicing certificate and an audit qualification under ACCA.
My portfolio of clients is extremely varied which means day to day work is never the same. I really enjoy working with all my clients and offering help and advice on any issues that they may have which is not always just on accounts and tax.
My specialisations include Academies and Business Start Ups but have good experience in a wide range of sectors.
