I work in the audit team, completing accounts, audit and tax work for a variety of clients, both in terms of size and industry. This is not only interesting, but also helps to keep my knowledge and skills up to date in different areas.

I joined Edmund Carr in July 2023 as an Audit & Accounts Semi-Senior. Since graduating from the University Of East Anglia (UEA) in 2016 with a 2:1 degree in BSc (Hons) Economics, I have worked in a couple of other accountancy practices in Essex in which I have been able to complete the majority of the ICAEW ACA qualification.

I work in the audit and accounts department and have experience in the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies as well as statutory audit and other assurance work in a number of different sectors.

Outside of work I enjoy playing badminton, going to the gym, travelling and meeting up with friends.

I started my accountancy career when I joined Edmund Carr in 2001 following studying marketing at university. I qualified as a chartered certified accountant with ACCA in 2006 and later followed the pathways route to become a member of ICAEW, I also became a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2011. I have been lucky during my time at Edmund Carr to have worked with a wide range of clients and I enjoy the variety that working within practice brings. I see my role as providing a support to my clients in running their business, it is more than just preparing the financial figures. I am now the newest of the firms two tax partners and specialise in accounts for medical professionals, small businesses and complex tax advice.

Whilst at NatWest I provided tax compliance and advice to a varied portfolio of clients and obtained the ATT qualification. My role with Edmund Carr is as a Tax Senior again focusing on personal taxation. I am al so gaining experience of other disciplines which is providing a helpful insight into the business.

I am currently an audit manager with a varied client portfolio. I specialise in company audits and pension scheme audits. I also work with non-audit limited companies, preparing accounts and dealing with corporation tax affairs. My portfolio of clients also includes sole traders and partnerships and I work in preparing their accounts and assisting with their personal tax returns I have been with the Practice for over twenty years and have a great working relationship with many of the firm’s clients.

On a personal level, I have a keen interest in most sports.

I joined Edmund Carr in October 1990 after starting my career at HMRC. I have worked in the tax department for the last 31 years, where I had my own allocation of personal tax clients, which mainly involved the completion of self-assessment tax returns, repayment claims and assisting with the preparation of papers for probate purposes.

February 2022 I moved over to the payroll department due to change of staff, this was only to be a temporary move to assist while new members were recruited but unfortunately that didn’t quite work out as planned and I am now a full time member of the payroll team and I am enjoying the challenge. I have however kept a handful of my long standing tax clients that I don’t want to let go.

Outside of work I have 2 adult children and one beautiful ‘lockdown’ granddaughter and enjoy a good social life.

I previously worked for ECFS in 2018 but left to join a large regional firm of IFA’s. I soon realised I missed the friendly and professional atmosphere at EC Financial Services and was delighted to re-join the team in December 2021.

I am an experienced administrator having been in the financial services industry since 2016. I have passed exams and now hold a certificate in financial services. I am also on track to complete three further professional qualifications to hold a diploma in paraplanning.

Outside of work, I enjoy going out as well as gaming with friends and of course spending time with family.

As Practice Manager I have seen the firm grow from strength to strength over the last 20+ years. I manage the internal finance department of Edmund Carr ensuring our financial management and statutory accounts are produced efficiently for Partner discussion. We have a strong, dedicated admin team, proactive in ensuring we keep up to date.

I am also involved with staff recruitment, in particular, our new trainees. We are keen to employ enthusiastic, hard-working school leavers and graduates, with an interest in a career in accountancy. We are very fortunate to have secured some excellent students in recent years and it is a pleasure to see them develop and mature and they progress through their studies and professional work.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling; road trips to Europe and America being some of my favourites, with family and friends. Skiing will hopefully be in the agenda again soon! I enjoy keeping active, with beach walks and cycling.

I have over 30 years of experience in banking and financial planning, supporting staff and clients of the NatWest Group, which includes the prestigious Coutts & Co and Adam Private Banks.

Prior to joining ECFS In February 2021, my most recent role was in Wealth & Investment Management at Coutts helping the bank met their regulatory obligations and advisors deliver the best possible investment advice to their clients. I have also led several financial planning teams and for a period worked within the training and development team.

Professionally I am a qualified Chartered Financial Planner. I am married, with two children at university and enjoy playing golf.

After spending over 30 years within a large banking group, I am delighted to be able bring this experience to a smaller firm and looking forward to supporting the business and clients achieve their aspirations.

I currently hold Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning. I also have experience advising on Long Term Care, Equity Release and Mortgages.

Outside of work I still like to play football when I can and more recently, I have taken up running. I have been lucky enough to run in the last two London Marathons.

Having passed the Accounting Technician exams I was transferred to the tax department in 2000, and qualified as a Taxation Technician and Chartered Tax Adviser. My role is centred around personal taxation, but I am also involved with most other areas of tax.

Outside of work my main interests are music, playing guitar, karate, photography, countryside walking, and I have been a keen birder since primary school.

I joined Edmund Carr in August 2021 after completing my A levels at Ormiston Rivers Academy. Since joining I have passed my CFAB accounting qualification under a level 4 apprenticeship. I am now working towards my ACA qualification to become a qualified accountant.

During the apprenticeship you attend a college where you are taught the subject matter and then Edmund Carr allows trainees to take 2 days off before each exam. This gives you more than enough time to prepare and revise for the exams. Alongside the exams, the apprenticeship scheme requires you to fill out portfolios to prove your professional development and attend skills days in order to develop skills such as teamwork, leadership etc. The balance between theory and practical learning at college and work allows you to gain an understanding and settle in quickly.

I work in the Audits and accounts department. The work varies from the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies to auditing various types of companies, schools and charities. The array of jobs and clients you work on ensure it does not feel repetitive.

The role of a trusted adviser in my eyes, has always been to fully understand a clients overall financial circumstances, objectives and aspirations for the future . Then over time provide advice and ongoing support to ensure that these are achieved.

I joined ECFS in October 2018, following a 35 year career within the NatWest Group, the last 7 years of which was within Coutts & Co based in the Strand.

I have been very fortunate to have looked after some wonderful clients during my career, many of whom I continue to support today.

I hope that my experience and expertise will be a comfort to our clients at ECFS as well as my colleagues as we work together as a team to support each other.

I am married to Nicola, a primary school teacher, have 4 wonderful grown-up children and, at the last count, Four lovely grandsons! I feel truly blessed.

I have a real passion for live music, film and theatre and a keen interest in family genealogy.

I have five years’ experience in accountancy which involved preparing VAT returns, bookkeeping and the preparation of accounts for clients. I also now have one years’ experience within audit since joining the firm. I am currently working towards my ACCA qualification which is part of my 4 years apprenticeship with the firm. The apprenticeship allows for a good balance between theory and practical experience. Outside of work I enjoy playing badminton and taking part in the occasional park run.

I deal with avery varied portfolio of clients, but my specialist areas are Academy schools and business start-ups. As a new partner to the firm, I tend to handle a lot of the new enquiries we receive, and I am looking forward to building a strong working relationship with my clients in the future! I enjoy socialising with friends, cycling, going to the gym and I am also involved with the scouting movement in Ingatestone.

Having enjoyed many years as a Registered Audit partner, I have also become the firm’s IT specialist and assist a broad range of clients in developing their technical infrastructure through the installation of computerised accounting systems and the production of management accounts. This compliments my particular expertise of working with large company clients, company pension schemes, FCA audits, academies and fast food restaurants.

Every day is different. I really enjoy the new challenges of dealing with my clients’ unique issues.
